We invite you to this year’s MTWC Goggles and Gauntlets. It will commence on Thursday 3rd August and end on Monday 7th August, you are welcome to stay for a longer or shorter period it is up to you.
North Yorkshire is the setting for this year’s event, the Best Western Burn Hall Hotel, Tollerton Rd in the village of Huby, a few miles north of York is our base for the long weekend. Ideally situated in the Vale of York the hotel has everything for our needs. Including room for your trailer, if that is how you bring your Morgan. Set in lovely grounds, with lots of local walks The Georgian market town of Easingwold is close by as are the many park and ride points for York. After a day of Morgan driving you can relax after dinner in the hotel lounge/bar, take a walk in the grounds or stroll into the village which also has two pubs.
We have already done the first recce for the weekend’s activities, with stunning countryside, quiet country roads and idyllic villages galore there will be something for all. Of course, you can do as little or as much of the planned trips as you wish.
It has become traditional to visit an airfield and this year we shall stop off at Bagby Airfield, flanked by the white horse on the hillside at Sutton Bank, near Thirsk. It is in a stunning location and has an excellent café up in the control tower with far reaching views.
We shall visit Oliver’s Mount Road Racing Circuit at Scarborough and do a few laps of the track ( subject to race schedule) and take a break at Oliver’s on the Mount trackside café with stunning views over Scarborough Bay.
A tour of Dalby Forest is a must , with comfort stops along the way and visiting the market town of Pickering. A stop off at the motor museum in Thornton le Dale or a look around the town and a coffee break may appeal. A drive up over the moors via Rosedale Abbey with it’s stunning views will test your brakes and clutch, there will be ample stops on this super journey across the moors.
No visit to North Yorkshire is complete without real Fish and Chips and this will be on the cards as will a visit to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. You can also fit in a trip to the beautiful city of York if you wish. Castle Howard is also close by.
We have arranged a deal with the hotel, based on a standard room.
- A double/twin room for two per night, inclusive of Dinner, B &B is £120.00
- A single room for one per night, inclusive of Dinner, B &B is £65.00
- You can opt to upgrade to a larger/superior room for £10.00 per night extra

We are organising a 100 car Cavalcade from the garage here at Borough Green to the Morgan Motor Company – leaving here Thursday 24th August and arriving in Malvern about 11.30 on Friday 25th for the factory Open Day and start to the MOG 17 event. We will pick up cars along the way and would love to have a significant 3 wheeler presence – probably joining at the last leg close to Malvern to process into the field. There is no cost at all to take part unless people wish to stay at the Mercure Hotel on the Thursday night (in which case click here ).
There are a number of clients joining us in Newbury on the Friday morning and I propose that we have a “final meeting place” between Tewkesbury and Malvern Link to get the final 100 in line for the procession to the factory.
We had a fabulous presence of 3 wheelers when we did the 100 car Cavalcade for the Centenary (about 37 of the total number) and it would be lovely to do something similar this time.
The factory will be open and offering a variety of “entertainment” without charge on the Friday so we propose to get there about 11.30 -12.00 noon. From there everyone will leave to “do their own thing” – obviously some are staying for the weekend and others not!
If anyone has any questions or wants to join somewhere in particular then all suggestions welcome!
Thanks and best wishes,
