Day 1
“The first Touring Group event of 2022 got underway this morning. Seven M3W met up near Okehampton ready for the trek down to Cornwall.
“Day 2 of the Tour and after a hearty breakfast the Mogs were fired up for a day of interest. We set off along the coast led by The Captain in his unmissable check mate Mog. Yet again a beautiful sunny morning made it all the more pleasurable.
An accident on the road ahead caused our leader to make a hasty back road diversion but soon we were back on track. The seaside village of Mousehole shook as our group of Mogs thundered through.
A further drive and we arrived at the spectacular Minack Theatre, built out the rock face this was an experience to see.
The Logan Rock Inn was perfect as our lunch stop before we carried on around the coast.
The visit to Levant Mine and Steam Beam Engine was very special indeed.
As the afternoon moved on a quick dash of 33 miles on perfect roads saw us back in Coverack and time for a beer before dinner.
The Bay Hotel is looking after us well, great food, drink, stunning scenery and atmosphere.”
“Day three of our Cornish Tour, yet again fab weather to look forward too. We set off from Bay Hotel HQ led by the former Captain Pugwash, we promoted him overnight to Rear Admiral for services rendered !
He led us along some delightful backroads through his home village of Gweek, with a couple of stops in Falmouth for photo shoots, then to Perranwell Garage , ex Morgan Dealer. Unfortunately as we pulled up at the garage I suddenly had no clutch the guys at Perranwell agreed with my diagnosis of failure of either slave or master cylinder. Being only 200 mls since I had a new clutch fitted, there is very little that I could dare print here.
So on we carried along the coast following the others, with no clutch to Trellisick Gardens NT, a lovely lunch stop which was walked off around beautifull gardens.
Time to press on and we drove down to the King Harry Ferry, quite exciting with no clutch, we nearly went straight across from one end to the other, I did wonder whether it would have floated or sunk ? Could have been a bonus ? first ever Mog lost at sea !
Lovely run into St Mawes, time for ice cream and a wander.
Jump back into the Mogs back to the ferry where Ric Hardy had gone ahead of us to take some drone pictures of us on the ferry. With no clutch we made a rather dramatic exit off the ferry and a very hairy 33 ml drive back to the hotel. It was all in the timing asi had to judge speed relative to the other traffic to avoid unnecessary slowing down. Both Maria and I had extremely high blood pressure on our return to the hotel.
A great day out nonetheless.”
Day 4
Thanks to Ric Hardy for the excellent photos.”
SUPER 3 Validation Prototype No.1
The first of six Validation prototypes rolled out of the Morgan factory this week. The first is finished in a BMW Silver Blue Metallic, pictured here. The others are in various stages of build in the factory. The actual production line does not become live till later in the year when we plan to make a visit. Our Morgan contact said that it would be late June/July before dealers start to see demonstrators arrive .Customers will not see cars delivered till late in the year and the effect of supply chain problems could push that back even further.
