VSCC Silverstone Spring Start – 22nd/23rd April
The ‘Spring Start’ Race Meeting returned to a two day format In 2017, providing competitors and spectators with a wonderful mix of race for Vintage and Historic cars. Club members Sue Darbyshire and Simon Edwards were out in their Super Aeros.

George Darbyshire worked incredibly hard over the winter to rebuild Sue’s Super Aero racer. The results speak for themselves, the car looks superb.
Sue did well in practice on Saturday, lapping at over 71 mph. Simon lapped at over 65mph.
Unfortunately, ill luck befell both of them. Sue pulled out of Saturday’s race when she lost fuel pressure due to a failed air-line. She also went out of Sunday’s race, when two nuts came adrift on the bearing retainer, on the near side exhaust rocker and released all the roller bearings. Simon went out on Sunday, when the nut on the end of the change speed rod came adrift and he lost the dog and selector fork.
