VSCC Shelsley Walsh - 1st/2nd July 2017

VSCC Shelsley Walsh 1st & 2nd July 2017

Always one of the most popular events of the year, the MAC again hosted the traditional VSCC Hill Climb at one of the world’s oldest motorsport venues, this year becoming a spectacular 2-day weekend of Vintage action, with a full day of Practice on Saturday, followed by exciting competition on Sunday.

A much smaller entry this year, probably caused by the clash with the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Just one Morgan Three Wheeler, the racing Super Aero campaigned by Sue Darbyshire. Hannah Enticknap was another of our members, competing in the Morgan/GN hybrid, Salome.

Not the most successful event for Sue. Here’s what she said:

Shelsley Walsh was unfortunately my Armageddon. The shock of the crash last year at Mallory Park had cracked my crank cases both sides and  although we had tried to start the season with a new engine there were a number of issues which meant that we couldn’t run it so the crashed engine had to be used. We knew it was a bit of a ticking time bomb but we managed a couple of good results early in the season However things didn’t feel right at Shelsley and it soon became apparent that the cracks had opened up in the cases. So…back in the trailer and now I am relying on George [Darbyshire] and Ewan Cameron to rescue my racing season.”
