The Words:
The final round of the Challenge saw plenty of drama though some of it was off the track!
It seems that almost everyone has been plagued with bad luck this year and it was the turn of Hamish Bibby in Bill Tuer’s invincible machine. A float chamber union disappeared in practice but not to be deterred Bill and Hamish set off to meet a friend who brought one from Liverpool and met them at the Stoke M6 junction and the machine was back in action in time for the Challenge Race allowing Hamish to seal his dominance of the Racing Class. That’s how to tackle adversity!
Greg Bibby was back in action and was able to stay ahead of Neil Smith who has been getting faster and faster as he becomes more familiar with the handling of the Supersports. There is no doubt that he will be a good bet for some honours pretty soon. Tony Quinn was in good form and with the absence of Danny Hodgson, stayed ahead of Pete Clews to cement the Pump Fuel Trophy.
The TM Class was a close run between Richard and Vicki White in the Matchless and Cathy Quinn in her F2. Richard was victorious this time but it is Cathy who has taken the TM Class this season. Bruce Grant came home in third place followed by Chloe Pilbeam.
Standard Class has been Chris Harfield’s all season with no serious challenge and he is getting ever closer to the tail end times of the TM cars.
