MDMC

Only our Comp Sec made the journey to North Yorkshire for this event at a beautiful venue just outside Catterick.

The event is run by Middlesborough Motor Club with MTWC member Grant Sellars as Clerk of the Course.  It was rather reminiscent of old club sprints with competitors strung out along the back road to the hall. Dave Hughes was in charge of the scrutineering bay situated on the grass at the bottom of the hill!  The rain began falling just before Practice and as one of the outfits had not appeared there were only the Aucklands on a Norton Commando Outfit and the F-Super in the Threewheeler Class.

The course is a short uphill sprint with one corner then flat to the chequer boards.  Pete, with Sue in the passenger seat had hoped to get below 20 seconds but the greasy surface made it difficult to get grip off the line with wheelspin even in second gear in an F-Type!  The fastest of 6 runs was 20.37 and Sue said that it was so slow she had time to count the cygnets on the lake!

This is a lovely old fashioned motorcycle sprint and the ideal event to try your first competition in a Morgan.  You will be made most welcome by Grant Sellars and his team at next season’s event.
