MORGANS AT ” CIRCUIT DES REMPARTS ANGOULEME ” 18TH SEPTEMBER 2011.

Angouleme is a very social meeting in the middle of the city with crowded cafes and ” old cars ” everywhere. There is a real party atmosphere and the four Morgan entrants and their partners got together at a friend’s house along with a group of club members, who came down to support them, for a Friday night party.

Chas Reynolds had a repeat of his victory last year but as the only Morgan in the first vintage race he had no other three wheelers to do battle with. The MG’s gave him a hard time in a wet practice but come the dry race he left them in his dust to take a well deserved win.

Sue Darbyshire, Gary Caroline and Pete Clews were in the second vintage race which included VSCC racers who were Sue and Gary’s regular adversaries. The rain fell heavily for the race and it was very slippery. Uncharacteristically Sue spun, Gary kissed wheels with her and Pete nearly collected the pair of them. Sue then retired with a misfire, Pete went on to finish 6th and Gary 10th. The Sunday night saw another party to celebrate Chas’s win.
