John Humphreys’ Funeral

Long time club member and three wheeler enthusiast, John Humphreys, died on Wednesday 5th May.  John had been in a local care home for a short time before his death.

John made many patterns and castings for Mogspares and for that alone, we owe him a debt of gratitude. But more than that, John was a good friend to many of us and he will be greatly missed.

The funeral

John’s funeral was held on Monday 17th May at 11:30 at Carmountside Cemetery & Crematorium on Leek Rd, Milton, Stoke-on-Trent.

A goodly crowd of John’s friends and ex-workmates gathered to say “goodbye” at a lovely family service. The weather was atrocious and only one club member turned up in a pre-war car. Steve Lister arrived in his Frazer Nash and presumably got drenched on his way home.

We’ll miss John.

The Swan Main Sample2

West Midlands Group Change of Mid-Week Venue

From Dave Anscombe

Unfortunately, The Plough at Shenstone remains closed at the moment and so I propose we gather at The Swan Inn in Chaddesley Corbett High Street (DY10 4SD).

This pub has a large outdoor area so we can stay suitably distanced and also serves Batham’s beer.  I believe they also have a number of gazebos for shelter, if the weather isn’t great.

The Clent Club meeting on 26th May should allow us to gather indoors if necessary in a less restricted manner, which will be a pleasant change.

Interesting article in Classic Car Weekly This Week

Stephen Clark the clubs registrar has just pointed out that the latest edition of Classic Car Weekly has a quite well-written four-page feature, comparing Pete Jones’ 1922 flat-sided Aero with Greg Garland’s 2018 five-speeder.
