Christopher Hudson contacted the Club via the website when he found this lovely picture. It seems that the lady is Dot (his father’s first wife) and that the Super Aero was probably owned by his father. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear in the MTWC Registry. UF 6302 is a Brighton registration number from May or June 1930.
Steve Lister thought it worth spending some time trying to find it in the Factory records. He started at the beginning of 1930 as Morgans were often registered a while after despatch and looked for any that went to Turpin’s Motor Depot – the Brighton agent. Turpin’s sold just 2 Super Aeros in the first six months of 1930. Steve’s pretty sure that UF 6302 was M203: Despatched from Malvern on the 2nd June 1930 it was painted red and fitted with JAP – LTOWC/4/W 90151/SE.

The Brentwood Flying Squad
|
Sent to Club Registrar, Steve Lister by Serge Caffarel, one of our growing number of French members. Serge found the picture amongst some Morgan Memorabilia.
A note on the back indicates it appeared in a newspaper, when was it taken? 1932? The note on the back however makes this picture all the more interesting. “AMATEUR FLYING SQUAD HELP POLICE AGAINST BANDITS. The “Brentwood Flying Squad” a party of local residents with motor cars has been formed to patrol the roads at night, to assist the police in combating the bandits. Mr Mappin, the organiser of the squad has received a threatening note warning to desist from his co-operation with the police.” Dated September 24th but no year. Any Ideas?

This picture was sent in via the Club’s Facebook page. The car was formerly owned by a Mr Daniels. Sadly, enquiries by our Registrar Steve Lister seem to indicate the car has not survived. Unless YOU know different, do you know of MY 604? What a wonderful period picture.

George Dobson has passed on information about DOL 658, together with a more recent photo in real colour. Here are a few of George’s words: “DOL 658 belongs to Paul Jowitt (4256) recently President of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and currently active in Scotland. The [original] photo was taken at Tickhill Castle in 1968.” Tickhill Castle is near Doncaster.
The colour picture shows Dave Morgan standing by Paul Jowitt’s Morgan. Mr Jowitt is, of course, standing next to the Jowett, not his Morgan. The venue was a rally/hill climb near Biggar in the Scottish Borders in 1995.
