Had enough?
For many of us, 2020 and 2021 has been dominated by endless meetings over Z-Z-Zoom…

Well, now it’s time for some VA-VA-VROOM!

The 2021 MTWC AGM and Rally!

17th-19th September 2021 at Woodland Grange, 2.3 miles from the centre of Royal Leamington Spa.

See https://www.woodlandgrange.com/gallery/

Numbers are looking good with already over 100 booked into the Dinner.

If you haven’t booked in yet, get your cheque book out and book yourself into the weekend and a place in the Paddock and at the Dinner.  It will be a lively evening!

Here are the essential details.

AGM Cartoon

Saturday – The Spares Fair,  Saturday, 9am – 1pm

Please sign in with your membership card from 9 am.

The Bring And Buy

Please note the new procedure:  To optimise the opportunity of selling your spare parts using this service, members must label all items with their name and the price.  Please do this before delivering to Paul Baker and his Team from 8am, leaving the room promptly to return when the doors open at 9 am.

A security surveillance will be employed.  The 10% levy proceeds will be used to offset venue overheads.

The last Spares Fair and Bring and Buy was a huge success with many rare and valued parts finding new homes.  It is a great opportunity to enjoy this unique Club benefit.

Please contact Gary Caroline for all Spares Fair enquiries (tel 01483 385056 and email [email protected] )

Bringing your Morgan?

The more the merrier!  Please send me the details of your trike for inclusion in the Rally Programme (email [email protected]):

17  Mogs so far, but we can do better than that!  We had over 30 in 2019.

And for all those bringing their Morgan to some or all of the AGM weekend, your name will be entered into a draw for some Insurance Vouchers donated by Peter James Insurance.

This is the draft schedule

Friday afternoon:  Scenic runs for those early arrivals who fancy a spin.  Or just relax and settle in with a free coffee/tea and some snacks

Friday evening:  Informal, but we’ll think of something!  There will be an optional 2 course fork supper for those who want it.  And probably a silent bar quiz.

Saturday Morning.  The Spares Fair as usual, from 9am.

Saturday Afternoon:  The Grand Rally in the grounds of Woodland Grange, displaying all the Morgan 3Ws attending and the Concours judging.  As in 2019, we are planning some Side Events, including an illustrated talk by Grahame Joseph on Cartoons, plus wine tasting with Ruth Ross.  And maybe some Morris/Morgan dancing!

All the fun of the fair!

Saturday Evening:  The Rally Dinner, including the Award of Prizes (part 1).  The Mystery After Dinner Speaker is a mystery no more!  It’s Morgan, Bugatti and Saloon Car racing ace Ivan Dutton.  The musical entertainment will be provided by our very own Spats Langham and Hot Fingers.

If you have any Seating Preferences for the Dinner, then again, please forward them to me.  But please don’t delay!  You know that herding Moggies is not easy!

Sunday morning:  The AGM and the Award of Prizes (part 2).

Sunday afternoon:  Further opportunities for some scenic runs and other side events (Kenilworth Castle and Armstrong Siddeley) for those staying through.

Can you hear the throb of V-Twins, pulsing F-Types and growling 5 Speeders on a packed grid; I can smell the high octane fuel and Castrol R drifting across the packed pit lane?

I can see the owners and drivers engaged in lively conversations, pointing at this or that, with oily rags in hand to wipe away odd drips of water and oil on the engines…  Am I dreaming?

No, just imagining the sights and sounds and the atmosphere that we’ll be enjoying in September!  I can’t wait!

Unshackle the Covid chains of the past 18 months and instead lubricate the Renold chain and get on with things we all enjoy – meeting up with Morgan friends again and giving our Morgans a good airing!  It will be blast!

There is ample and secure parking in the 16 acres of scenic grounds, an ideal green space right in front of the hotel to display all our Morgans, lots of social space within the hotel to enjoy free tea and coffee over the weekend and to meet old friends and make new ones.

The Booking Form is on the MTWC website and is enclosed with the August Bulletin.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as can make it to Royal Leamington Spa over the weekend of 17th-19th September!

Post Script:  For those wishing to stay in their own Motorhome, there is a campsite close by:

The Crofts, Bericote Road, Blackdown, Royal Leamington Spa, CV32 6QP

It is listed in the Caravan and Motorhome Club handbook on page 465, as site no. 1522. The manager at the site is David Drabwell, on 07771 531690, and [email protected]

The site offers electrical hook ups, water supply and chemical disposal point.  But no on-site  toilet or wash facilities.  It is adjacent to the Old Leamingtonians Rugby Ground.  If there’s a match on, then maybe you could join them in the communal bath…
