Steve Uprichard:

The second “modern” Chateau Impey Hillclimb was another resounding success. Our club was invited along to compete and also to display some of our cars. Ian and Maria Parkinson organised a whole heap of members and their cars in what was the best display on the ground. Meanwhile, at least eleven club members competed on the hill. Eight were in Morgans but Ben Enticknap drove the GN Phoenix and Ruth Ross competed in her Cooper MK 4. Ewan Cameron completed the line-up in his Lotus Cortina.

Of the three speeders, Bill Tuer was fastest of the bunch despite this being his first visit to Chateau Impney. But the broadest smile of the weekend belonged to Tracey Cameron; she pipped Greg Bibby by 3/10ths of a second!

Two Speeders were in the hands of Sue Darbyshire, Hannah Enticknap, Duncan Wood, Iain Stewart and Rob Pike. You’ll find their best times at the bottom of this page.

Ian Parkinson:

On both days our stand was extremely busy with visitors showing great interest in our vehicles.

Visitors were encouraged to sit in the Morgans on display and they most certainly did that. Our Chairman did an outstanding job in this respect although it did not go unnoticed that it seemed to be the ladies who were climbing in his Morgan. Interest was shown by a wide range of visitors and the team did a great job in engaging with them, old and young.

Club Regalia was on sale in our marquee and one new member, a five speeder owner bought £65 worth!

Maria convinced several people of the benefits in joining the club and they took away membership forms, others said they would be attending the training day to have a drive. One visitor to our stand, a Mr Charles Morgan chatted to Maria and commented that the display of Morgans was superb.

Post event, we all agreed we’d had a great weekend. A big “Thank you” to the Chateau Impney team for inviting us.
