West Midlands HFS Memorial Run @ The Green Dragon
May 27 all-day

For the HFS Memorial Run this year, I have arranged for us to lunch again at our traditional venue of the Green Dragon in Bishop’s Frome (WR6 5BP).  The date is Sunday 27th May.  If you want a meal, it would be helpful (but not essential) to book in advance on 01885 490607.  Please book for 12 o’clock and mention the Morgan Three-wheeler Club.  I understand that, this year, the pub will be offering a wider choice of menu.  If we can get away reasonably early after lunch, I plan a short run to another suitable venue for tea and stickies before dispersing for home.

I hope more pleasant weather will tempt some of you out to use your Mogs.

Coventry Motofest @ Coventry City Centre
Jun 2 – Jun 3 all-day

I am contacting you with an invitation. It would be greatly appreciated if you and your members would consider attending this years Coventry Motofest. This is an invitation to come and display your bikes at the country’s largest free to attend automotive festival. It takes place in the heart of the city on the first weekend of June. We have static displays from classic car and motorcycles clubs and owners in the open spaces of the city centre. There is also live action and demonstrations on a section of closed ring road. This year see the event have real racing in the form of timed trials around a street circuit. There is also a live action arena with drifting and other enthusiastic demonstrations. In fact we have something for everyone young and old 2 or 4 wheeled taking place all over the city. We would really love it if you would consider being a part of it. As a club registered to display you get to be right in the heart of the bike section. There is also the option for individuals to register to attend so membership to a club or organisation is not a requirement of attending.

Last year saw over 130’000 people attend the event over the 2 days. With this years added attraction of real competitive racing the expectation for a larger audience is almost guaranteed, weather permitting of course. Due to the layout of the event over the centre of the city the event whilst busy never feels crowded and there will be plenty to see in areas less noisy and busy as folks with the older vehicles are happy to take up space of green areas close to good food and beer outlets.

If you’ve never been to Coventry then this is the perfect excuse to visit our excellent transport museum who will have displays outside the museum as part of their contribution to the event. We also have 2 cathedrals, one modern and one not so which unfortunately suffered devastating destruction during the blitz in 1940. These 3 wonderful attractions are within easy walking distance of all the main attractions of the event itself.

We hope that you will give it some real consideration and would love to see as many of you as possible join us on the first weekend in June (2nd & 3rd). If your wish to attend please go to our website. www.coventrymotofest.com go onto the get involved page and register either as a club or individual. We will contact you with further details in due coarse. It would be worth keeping regular visits to the website to see what news we release as the event draws closer.

Should you wish to find out more then please feel free to email me Lee at [email protected] and I will do my best to give you all the information you require.

Thank you for your time

Regards

West Midlands MG Car Club Victory Trail @ Near J3 of the M42
Jun 10 all-day

In the late 1920’s the Birmingham Motorcycle Club ran a competitive event around the roads, lanes and tracks of Worcestershire entitled ‘The Victory Trial’ for Motorcycles, Combinations, Cyclecars and Cars. What we now call a Reliability Trial.

The event is still run for ‘gymnastic’ motorcyclists, but not around here. 90 years ago the route went from South Birmingham to West and South Worc’s and back via a loop via Wythall, Weatheroak,Waseley, Clent, Abberley, Alfrick, Worcester, Lickey, Portway and Wythall.

On Sunday 10th June 2018 the MG Car Club – Midland Centre will hold a non- competitive Classic Car Run for Edwardian, Vintage, Historic and Classic Cars and Cyclecars plus later Sports Cars, that follows as closely as possible and ‘Trails’ the ‘Trial’ of 1928, using only tarmaced roads. Hence the name and play on words

The original start and finish was at The Kings Heath Horse Showground – long gone! The route is basically a big loop, so we will start and finish where the loop comes together at Wythall, South of Birmingham. Near J3,M42.

Most of the 1928 observed hills are now tarmaced roads that we can and do use. There are about 5 that aren’t and some of the entrances/exits can be viewed as we pass by, as noted in the Route Book for interest.

There will be no awards as it is a non-competitive event, however successful finishers will receive a Finisher’s Certificate.

Entry Forms are now available on our website www.mg-cars.org.uk/mgccmidlandcentre or as attached below.

look in ‘Events’.

I am told that the full route for the run will be about 140 miles but there is an option to reduce this to under 100 miles(or you could just abandon the route and go home!).

I have attached the regs and entry form in case you are tempted….
