North West Group Buttermere Camping Weekend @ Sykes Farm Field
Jun 22 – Jun 24 all-day
North West Group Buttermere Camping Weekend

Graham Chivrall and Keith Lyndsell at the foot of Hardknott Pass many years ago. Graham now lives in France and Keith has moved to New Zealand.

Over half a century ago, a few hardy club members ventured north to the lovely English Lake District to sample the delights of camping at Mike Kyle’s Farm in Buttermere.

Ever since then, a tradition has grown and continued and the 2018 event takes place over the weekend of 22nd – 24th June.

Some of the original members are still hardy enough to camp in the field reserved specifically for our three wheelers. Others prefer the comfort of one of the local hotels, The Fish Inn or The Bridge Inn. No matter where you decide to stay, you’ll be made welcome for a weekend of frivolity, frothy beer and food.

Club Training Day

On Saturday 30th June the club will be holding the fourth Training Day at Bicester Heritage Centre. The place has undergone significant modernisation since we were last there. We have hired the circuit for the day and will have a range of Morgan Three Wheelers, including some racers from the Sporting Section for you to drive under the supervision of the owners. As there will be Morgans from the 1920’s through to the latest five speeders this event will have appeal to everyone.

Club Training DayPerhaps you are looking to buy one but are unsure about which model, or you may have an interest in racing and wish to try a racing Morgan. There may also be people who need to brush up on their crash gearbox/hand throttle skills and they will be catered for too. The Event opens at 0900 with signing on for drivers from 0830. Driving experiences are from 0930 to 1230 with a lunch stop of one hour, recommencing at 1330 to 1630 with a short mid afternoon break.  Catering is by Mrs Bishops Vintage Food Van who will be on site from 0830 serving breakfast rolls, quality tea and coffee through to a superb lunch menu into the afternoon.

Club Training Day

During the morning there will be two behind the scenes tours of this historical site which will be of interest and many of the vintage vehicle restoration businesses on site will be open too.  All those coming in Morgan Three Wheelers will park in the paddock where all the action is.  Entry to this occasion is by pre- booking only and the way to do this is by contacting Maria at [email protected] or calling 01823 277852. To book for the days driving experience driving your choice of Morgans will cost £25 per person.  If you wish to just come for the atmosphere  there are limited spaces for this at a cost of £6 per person.  This must be pre-booked but there will then be no driving on offer on the day.

A group of us are staying in Burford for the weekend.  Because of the MSCC event happening nearby, accommodation is scarce so get in touch with Maria if you wish to be with us. She has hotel and campsite details available – all are filling fast.

The event is used to raise funds for the Combat Stress charity.  The organisers are keen to have a good showing by the MTWC.  We hope to achieve this by getting a good attendance for the training day and then stay over until Sunday.  The Premier Inn at Whitney would be good for a group booking for the Saturday night.  Please contact Ian Parkinson to express interest.

Scandinavian Group Viking Run @ Vandrerhjemmetl Hotel
Aug 3 – Aug 5 all-day

Scandinavian Group Viking Run

The MTWC Scandinavian Group invites you to

The 2018 Viking Run

August 3-5, Kongsberg, Norway

We are staying in the centre of the historic town of Kongsberg. It lies 80 km’s south west of Oslo, and less than 120 km’s from the ferry ports of Horten, Sandefjord and Larvik. Oslo is reached  by ferries from Kiel and Denmark, Sandefjord from Sweden, and Larvik from Denmark.  Also  there is  the ferry from Moss to Horten across the Oslo Fjord, to avoid the tunnel under the fjord, for those coming from south-east.

We have secured single and double rooms at “Vandrerhjemmet”, all have en-suite bathrooms. The hotel has a secluded parking space in front of it, which is reserved for us.

Room price for a double room, per night:                       NOK 1100

Room price for a single room, per night:                        NOK 835

The rooms are booked by the organizer,  payable directly to the hotel by you during the stay. Breakfast is included in the room price.  The program includes an evening meal at the hotel on Friday evening, a Saturday lunch and a 3-course restaurant dinner at walking distance  from the hotel, on Saturday evening. A Sunday morning program is now considered as well.

Friday evening dinner at the hotel                               NOK 265

Saturday evening dinner:                                               approx NOK 500, TBD

Arrangment  fee ( Saturday lunch, entry fees)           approx 500 NOK, TBD

The program includes a Friday scenic trip. During the Saturday run we will  be stopping at various attractions, as well as for lunch.  Saturday afternoon venues the Scandinavian Group AGM, before we stroll off to visit a major collection of historic Morgans, before the evening dinner.

All Threewheeler  owners are welcome! The organizers will issue a detailed program and send it to the participants in advance. A “DIY” workshop in the town is available should anyone need to service or repair their vehicle. The trips will be “hilly” but not arduous.

Contact Roald.Pedersen@semcon.com         0047 99 40 76 36      for booking or for questions

NOTE

The British contingent plan to cross from Harwich to Hoek Van Holland then drive up through Germany and Denmark, crossing from Hirtshals to Larvik then up to Kongsberg.  The Scandinavians are very keen with a good mix of vintage and 5 speeders in use.  If you would like to join us then please contact Ian Parkinson.  Alternatively if you prefer to travel alone we will see you there.  There are already three Morgans signed up for the convoy from Harwich.
